*There were two occasions as I started the import where it accidentally made it post to today's date, but it was eventually fixed. I learned that trying to import from Teaspoon does that for whatever reason, while importing from Dreamwidth does not, and gives the original date without me needing to change it.
- I've been meaning to post. I have selfies to post! Profound meditations on life and fandom to postulate! (No, I don't.) But in then end, eh. My life's been pretty peaceful so far. Work stresses me out.
- I was sleeping on the bus and someone said I looked pretty which was weird but nice because she was a motherly older woman than a creepy dude. Is this sexist?
- I wonder if the movie Dunkirk will prompt people to read The Charioteer? A friend on Twitter said she checked it out to she can read my fic and I am alternately delighted and dismayed. Not to worry, I have told her that there is a lot better fic than mine out there and will be reccing when she's finished with the book.
- Also, the Doctor will be a woman and not a moment too soon! I am a little disappointed that the Doctor isn't going to be played by a person of color, but I also remember how shit the fandom was to Mickey and Martha, so.... (Not just the fandom, but the writers too. Honestly, that's one of the reasons I'm not particularly nostalgic about LJ-based/'old' fandom -- it was incredibly hostile place for POC.)
Anyway, Jodie Whittaker was excellent in Broadchurch, even during the shaky second season. (Haven't seen the third.) But the reason she looked so familiar is of course because she was in Cranford! Ah, the period drama industrial complex, what would I do without you? I'm think I should probably see season 10 (I wanna see Bill!) and then the 13th Doctor soonish. Maybe once it's available to stream and I can do it with one go.
- Also, I have been driving my AO3 subscribers away by posting nothing but SASO fills for months. I really need to take a break from it and post something else. But what? Why?
Anyway, I posted something that might be relevant to y'alls.

Otabek's always looked out for Yuri, no matter what, but he can't help but wish he'd make different choices.
Otayuri, mafia/noir AU.
My first time writing Otabek/Yuri and it's a AU because I lack imagination. Okay, byyyyyye.
And with that, I have cut ties with Photobucket completely.
I went looking for songlists, as I've been doing, to spark my memories. There are no song lists for "strong women in love." There are countless love song lists, and there are "female empowerment" lists (there is, apparently, basically no such thing as "male empowerment"), but nobody combines those ideas. There's a lot of love songs I like, but very few that make me "want to fall in love." Even these, I'm not sure are correct, but at least they don't carry any "nope nope nope; I am so done with that game" vibes for me.
It Must Be Love (Rickie Lee Jones) | Circles (Captain and Tennille) | Innocent Man (Billy Joel) | In a Big Country (Big Country) | Like a Prayer (Madonna) | Country Bumpkin (Loretta Lynn)
( And the only one that actually brings me happy thoughts about a hypothetical relationship )
I had apparently originally registered December 25th, 2003. So 13 1/2 years before I felt the need to leave.
I remember him mostly for how great he was as Bela Lugosi in Ed Wood (1994). He won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor the role. I don’t believe that I’ve ever seen the original Mission: Impossible series, or Space: 1999. He was in an episode of Columbo where he played twins—I’ve seen that episode once, a while back on Me-TV. After going through IMDB, I also learned that he was the voice of Mac Gargan/The Scorpion, in Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
I spotted North By Northwest via Comcast On Demand’s Turner Classic Movies section (can’t get the channel, but I can get the On Demand version of it) just the other day, and wondered if I should give it a watch. So now I will. I may also track down Strange Shadows In An Empty Room (1976) and The Fall of the House of Usher (1979), since he plays Roderick Usher.
Thomas E. Sanders has passed away, at the age of 63, after a battle with cancer. May he rest in peace. He was the production designer for Crimson Peak (2015), and Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992). For Star Trek fans, he did production design for Star Trek Beyond. I’ll be watching Crimson Peak again this evening.
(And apparently, linking to Deadline is considered spam. Therefore, it cannot accept the crosspost with that link. So on the LJ side, the only link is the Star Trek.com article.)
The Heat is On | Little Red Corvette | You Want It Darker | September | Rebel Rebel | Lucky Man | Big City | Faith
( 2016 was a horrible year to be a celebrity. )
I have never watched Dawn of the Dead (1978), because there apparently are so many versions (I know of at least four) floating around out there that I didn't know which to track down. I did spot Day of the Dead (1985) on Comcast On Demand earlier, so I’ll give it a watch this evening.
SAM FROM ATTACK THE BLOCK IS THE NEW DOCTOR!!!!!
Does this mean we can have crossover fic where Sam is really the Doctor taking a break cos the TARDIS is messed up or smth, and when it gets fixed she takes Moses and Pest with her across the universe as Companions? PLEASE CAN WE HAVE THIS????
....or I could just write it myself, fucking hell.
The first time I ever heard her name was this morning, in this Doctor Who TV post, where they were giving the odds of who it would be. Since she was one of several people from Broadchurch listed, I was guessing it was just because of either the Tennant or Chibnall connections, and not likely to happen.
Congratulations and good on her for getting cast in the role!
Also I went looking for the details about several bands I thought had broken up and discovered that many of them had gotten back together in some way, and several of them are still recording. (Supertramp is still active. Huh.)
White Rabbit | Gimme Gimme Gimme | Vacation | Peaceful Easy Feeling | Come Dancing | Anarchy in the UK
( One of the few bands I've seen in concert - well, I've seen the abridged version of the band. )
Oh, and I also created a new account with PostImage. I then transferred the banner and book cover for Wrap The Cloak Of Night Around His Shoulders from Photobucket to there. Let me know if anyone has any issues with seeing either, since it currently looks fine on my end.
Saiyuki Reload BLAST E02 (7/10) → I'm not mad I'm just disappointed that this was a pure filler ep and not a Gaiden flashback. That being said, Moertono_ did point out it was a good ep characterization-wise and I totes agree. (I will never get over Saiyuki showing Goku as a big bro. NEVER.)
Personally, the most noteworthy thing in the episode (aside from the completely hilarious Urasai) was them showing the Houtou peeps again. Gyokumen looked damn fine like wtf. I never really found her attractive before but woah. Sadly, still no Lirin and Yaone.
Urasai kinda rekindled my love for Sanzo/Kougaiji which was pretty unexpected hahaha. Nowhere near, "I gotta write fIC!" levels but still.
I think that becomes much clearer when Daisy simply decides to trust them (because Coulson drugs the undercover Nazi guy with truth serum) and the narrative has her do it without further suspicion of their intentions in episode one, and makes it so that Mike Peterson’s mistrust of organization like SHIELD is wrong because they know better than him and he needs to be saved from himself, never-mind he had legit reasons not to trust them or Daisy (after that point), who put him in their crosshairs.
Then there’s the fact that whenever there’s an organization (like the one Jiaying set up) that isn’t affiliated with Shield (and doesn’t like them), the Whedon Klan does its best to find a way to demonize anyone who a): doesn’t want to work with shield, b): doesn’t trust shield’s intentions.
( +More )
There aren't actually a lot of those. And most of them are at least somewhat in the filk genre.
Old Time Religion (the filk version) | Little Fuzzy Animals | Velveteen | Badger Badger Badger Badger | Black Powder and Alcohol | Cranes over Hiroshima
( I really wanted Black Powder to be the video, but then I remembered this one. )
